Local Business makes large donation to Flagler County Education Foundation

Thanks to Beaver Toyota of St. Augustine, the Flagler County Education Foundation was able to award over $14,000 in teacher mini grants this spring. Through a grant process opened to Flagler Schools teachers in March, Fund-A-Project with Beaver Toyota was opened to all Flagler Schools teachers. Beaver Toyota donated $10,000 that was partially used with matching funds by a private donor for this round of grants. The remainder of their donation will go to the other FCEF programs.

The process was a collaboration between Beaver Toyota and the Flagler County Education Foundation that culminated with 2 days of surprise visits to over 20 lucky teachers. Grants ranged from $200 to $1500 each. Bucky Beaver, Beaver Toyota Community Outreach Leader Jenielle Holderfield, and the Flagler County Education Foundation travelled to 9 schools over 2 days to personally deliver the good news to the teachers in their classrooms.

The Flagler County Education Foundation has an Innovative Teacher Grant program awarded annually in September that includes matching funds through the Consortium of Education Foundations and private donations. “When the chance arose to partner with Beaver Toyota to open up another grant opportunity we thought the idea was fantastic.” said Joe Rizzo, Executive Director of the Flagler County Education Foundation.
