On February 3, 2017 Flagler County Education Foundation President Matt Maxwell announced the retirement of Executive Director Deborah Williams and hiring of Joseph Rizzo for the executive director position, effective February 13, 2017.

Joseph Rizzo will take on the executive director title February 13, 2017. Mr. Rizzo is a Flagler County Education Foundation Past-President (2013-14), Flagler Palm Coast High School graduate and successful restaurant entrepreneur.

Joe has confirmed his support for the Flagler School District’s Vision and Mission. He has committed to Increase and direct Education Foundation resources toward successful goal achievement of programs and projects that will assist the School District in providing a ‘premier learning experience’.

Deborah has been the executive director since 2010. Under her leadership the foundation has grown from assets totaling $577,429 in June 2011 to assets of $2,514,410 in June 2016.

Ms. Williams says, “It has been an honor to build on the work of Nicole Brose, the first executive director (2008-2010), and work hand-in- hand with six presidents and more than 22 community leaders who serve on the board of directors. Together with past board members and generous donors we have created a professional fundraising organization and strong positive connections between community and classrooms.”

Mr. Maxwell says, “For several years, the Flagler County Education Foundation has partnered with the district to enhance career and college readiness for our students. Joe brings a business perspective to our efforts to engage more businesses in the education process.”

Joe adds, “This is just full circle for me. I’m a Flagler Schools product, went off to college, came back and started looking for ways to give back to this community that has provided so much to me and my family. I’m also excited to build on what Deborah and Nicole established here with the foundation.”joe
